As we start off the first month of 2025, we reflect on the last year. The challenges we faced, and the dedication of our providers in serving the community. This past year was one of growth and commitment as we responded to emergencies, expanded training initiative, and worked toward improving emergency medical care in our region. We responded to 3,322 emergency calls in 2024, data shows a growth of nearly 100 calls for service per year for the last 5 consecutive years. Our busiest month was April, totaling 322 calls for service.

Remember, our transport times within our area are greater than most other services. We average 1 hour and 27 minutes for turnaround times. Just say we transported every single patient we encounter, to the closest hospital, this would total an astonishing 4,816.9 hours our crews would spend in an ambulance per year!

Community Donations

Moshannon Valley EMS began the year attending club meetings, and accepting donations from various clubs and associations from our area. We would like to thank the Philipsburg Kiwanis Club for their generous monetary donation to MVEMS, and Front and Centre Productions & Illusions Dance Studio for their donation of snacks and supplies for our ambulance station. Connections with groups such as these two are vital recourses for services, and we are proud to have those connections. We are thankful for everything the community does for us!

Community Education

Moshannon Valley EMS Public Safety Training Institute staff traveled out to West Branch Area School District on one of their in-service days to train 36 paraprofessionals, nurses, and gym teachers CPR, AED, and First Aid. It is important that we get out and teach these vital skills so individuals in our community know what they can, and can't, do in case of an emergency. This is a service we offer to businesses and school districts, if you're interested in learning more, contact our Director of Education at  tthomas@movalleyems.com

Thank you to Philipsburg Borough Street Department Crew

We would like to send out a THANK YOU to the Philipsburg Borough Street Department crew for ensuring the apron at our ambulance station is clear of snow and ice throughout the winter. They take the extra time out of their route every time inclement weather comes around to ensure our crews can access the station safely. We appreciate them going above and beyond their required duty.

MVEMS New Building Update

The new building project is continuing in the right direction. The best way to support this project is through monetary donations. When you submit your subscription for 2025, you will note a line to make a donation directly to the new building fund. These funds are placed in a separate account and will be used directly towards the construction of a new building. Our management staff remain attentive to ensure this project is completed, and have been attending meetings throughout the month of January with contractors to make the necessary adjustments needed to ensure the building is practical for our area and needs. We understand that these plans have been in the works for a while, however as a non-profit, the process to secure the funding takes a bit longer. Your donations will continue to bring this project to life!
